KARACHI, March 10: The government has failed to take punitive action against top management of the Pakistan International Airline for negligence in meeting safety standards, which resulted in the EU ban on all but seven of its Boeing 777 aircraft. “The claim of PIA Chairman Tariq Kirmani that the ban is meant to put pressure is absolutely wrong, as it was imposed in the light of recommendations of a EU-SAFA team. The ban is not politically motivated,” said a senior PIA official, who asked not to be named.
