Women teachers demand salary

LARKANA, March 6: More than 20 female teachers working in community model schools protested against the non-payment of salaries for last 14 months.

They took out a procession in Qambar on Tuesday which was led by Noorjehan Wadho, Aisha Junejo and Abida Parveen Seelro. After marching on main roads they assembled outside the press club.

They alleged that the district coordination officers of finance and education for giving them false hopes. They demanded that their dues should be paid immediately as they were facing lots of hardship.

There are 33 community model schools in Qambar-Shahdadkot district.

They said that on Monday they were called at the DCO office and after a long wait were asked to contact the Sindh education minister. They not only demanded their salaries but also regularisation of jobs.

ASI murdered: An assistant sub-inspector of police was shot dead on Tuesday in his home in Baharpur locality of Larkana. The killers escaped from the scene.

The police termed the murder as revenge killing and said that the deceased Ghulam Nabi Kalhoro was posted at the Dari police station.

Ziaur-Rehman, son of the ASI, nominated two brothers, Ghulam Ali and Sajjid Ali, in the FIR lodged with the Market police and mentioned the cause of the killing as an old enmity. Police could not arrest the two nominated in the FIR.

However, they raided the house of Ghulam Bashir Kalhoro near Qafila Serai and rounded up more than 10 persons, including some women, the sources said.

About two years ago Alidino, son of the deceased had killed the sister of alleged killers on the charges of Karo-Kari.
