Four die as jeep falls into ravine

MANSEHRA, Oct 19: Four members of a family were killed and seven seriously injured when a jeep in which they were travelling plunged into a ravine near Pares, some 45 km from here, on Thursday evening.

The family of Shabbir Hussain Shah, a resident of Balakot, was going to attend a marriage ceremony in village Pares. While negotiating a sharp turn at Shagger Har, Shabbir lost control over the jeep (MA 844) and it fell into a ravine along the River Kunhar.

Four members of the family, including Shabbir, his wife and two others, Balawal Shah and Imtiaz Bibi, died on the spot.

Seven other members of the family, including Fida Hussain, Sajjad Hussain, Hussain Shah and the four children of Shabbir, Nasim, Naila, Zainab and Tufail, received serious injuries. They were taken to Balakot hospital, from where they were shifted to the Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad, where the condition of two children was stated to be serious.
