ICC suspends USACA

Published March 4, 2007

DUBAI, March 3: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed suspending the United States of America Cricket Association (USACA) for failing to meet deadlines for the adoption of a new constitution and holding of elections.

The annual ICC grant that would otherwise have been paid on April 15, will also be withheld.

The US will be withdrawn from the World Cricket League (WCL) division 3 Series to be held in Darwin, Australia, in May and relegated from that division.Meanwhile, the West Indies, as the ICC’s Full Member in the region, has been asked to play a lead role in monitoring the progress in the US.

The suspension will stand until such time as the West Indies Cricket Board recommends and the Executive Board agrees that it should be lifted, an ICC statement said here. —Agencies
