Fumigation drive from mid-March

Published March 4, 2007

LAHORE, March 3: The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) will launch a fumigation campaign from mid of this month to check dengue fever and malaria.

EDO (health) Dr Inamul Haq told Dawn on Saturday that the campaign would target the areas where dengue fever cases had been reported last year. He said town nazims would also be engaged to make the campaign a success.

He said the department had enough chemical to carry out the job.

Dr Haq said no dengue case had been reported in the city this year so far.

Neither the provincial nor the district governments were well prepared when the disease broke out last year.

Insects are breeding unchecked as insecticides have not been sprayed on ponds, drains and garbage collection places in time.
