KARACHI, March 3: Traffic jam was witnessed on Saturday morning on main Manghopir Road due to reconstruction work on a portion of the road from Raxer Lane to Bara Board.

Mismanagement on part of traffic officials and intolerant drivers left the traffic jammed for almost one and a half hour. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on the road while traffic police seemed least interested to clear the mess and ensure smooth traffic flow.

With the closure of one track, the other was supposed to accommodate the entire traffic load, which required proper attention on part of traffic officials.

A few ambulances were also seen trapped amid long queues of vehicles from Bara Board to Pakistan Quarters. Motorcyclists and rickshaw drivers had aggravated the situation. Some of the motorists tried to take a U-turn but could not make it merely multiplying the problems.

Many passengers of public transport opted to walk up to the Garden intersection.
