ISLAMABAD, March 2: Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Friday assured station masters that their legitimate demands regarding increase in salary would be fulfilled.

A delegation of station masters met the minister and took back their decision of strike after the minister assured the delegation that their salary would be raised.

The minister said that a summary in this connection had been sent to the ministry of finance and all-out efforts were being made for the formal approval.He assured them that in the next budget, salary of station masters would be increased.

Talking to journalists, the minister said that politics would not be allowed to enter in the railways stressing that whosoever would try to malign the image of the department would have to face the consequences.

He said that the Pakistan Railways was committed to solve the problems of staff and on the priority basis.—Online
