ISLAMABAD, March 1: The Chairman Senate, Mohammedmian Soomro on Wednesday said Pakistan has rich and multi-faceted cultural heritage.

He was speaking at a reception hosted in honour of the delegates attending the 13th General Assembly of the APPCED at the National Heritage Museum.

It was attended, among others, by Senators, some MNAs and senior government officials.

The Senate Chairman said that Pakistan was a land of many splendours. “It is home to 5000-year-old Indus Valley Civilization, which flourished in the area and has links to Central Asia, Afghanistan, Iran and China.

The land and the people, he said present a rich amalgam with their exotic folk tales and traditions, fabulous culture, colourful cuisine, spell binding music and unique architecture. “A strain of unity runs through the apparent diversity and it is discernible to many observers with an eye for detail”, he added.

The delegates were also taken around the various pavilions in the museum representing each province and specific areas and they were amazed and bewildered at the vast treasure of cultural wealth and diversity the country possesses.

The dinner was followed by tableaus presented by artistes depicting famous folk tales accompanied by light and musicians also entertained the guests with sweet melodies, seducing the soul.
