HYDERABAD, Feb 21: The City Taluka Council Hyderabad here on Thursday approved the report of the sub-committee on the mega project of Bus Terminal with some specific conditions.

The meeting was especially called to discuss in detail the 4 page report of the 12 member sub committee.

The members, however, demanded that the reservations, expressed by the members, be taken into account and be made a part of the agreement to be signed between the council and the builder.

The total project of Bus Terminal is spread over 9 acres and will be constructed at a cost of Rs140 millions.

The members said that the agreement should be registered.

The report recommended that the project be completed in 2 years and the builder be asked to submit its construction schedule plan to the council that would be made a part of the agreement.

The report further recommended that the builder submit a construction report fortnightly to Welfare Services Officer of the council and if he failed to comply with the directive, the council would cancel the agreement on a 24 hours notice.

The report said that the council would secure a bank guarantee of Rs80 millions and in case of cancellation of the agreement the builder would not get any sort of income from the project.

It said that the builder would himself get the plan approved from the HDA in one month instead of 3 months and all other terms & conditions of the agreement should be strictly followed. In case of violation of the agreement the council would cancel the agreement, seize the accounts and take over the possession, it added.

The sub committee which met on Jan 27 considered 11 conditions of the project which were primary ingredients of construction plan.

The committee noted that the map of the project had not been submitted by the builder, but he had informed the council about his proposed plan of the project.

The builder undertook to offer Rs40.1 millions to the council as donation.

However, the committee members recommended that 19 other conditions be made a part of the original plan which had been accepted by the builder.

The committee recommended that apart from bank guarantee of Rs80 millions, the donation as promised by the builder would be given as per schedule.

The sub committee was constituted after a resolution was tabled on Dec 31, 2001 by Abdul Waheed Qureshi Ajmeri about mega project of Bus Terminal.

The Convenor of the Council, Abdul Qadeer Nagar, informed the house that the project had been in pending for two years and some people were interested in it and added that if the project was completed on time it would also be in the larger financial interests of the Tehsil Council.

A member, Shakoor Palari, said that the builder should be asked to increase the amount of bank guarantee because the project was very much financially viable for him.
