KARACHI, Feb 26: Leader of the Opposition in Sindh Assembly, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, has said that General Pervez Musharraf and his proxies in Sindh were finding it hard going to get the people to attend his public meeting scheduled for Wednesday near Larkana.

In a press statement, the PPP leader claimed that around 6,000 security personnel would be deployed to sit in the meeting in plain clothes besides all government employees including teachers have been asked to attend or they would be removed from service.

He said the dictators had always found Larkana an invincible PPP citadel and General Musharraf too would be dejected to see an empty public meeting.

Mr Khuhro said it was absurd that on one hand General Musharraf called himself a popular leader but the venue of his public meeting had been sealed more than a month before it was held.

The PPP leader said t the popularity of General Musharraf could be judged from the fact that the police and other state machinery had been ordered to impound private buses, trucks and coaches to ferry people from all over Sindh to Larkana to ensure it is a success. In this regard, millions of rupees from the Sindh, federal and district governments’ exchequers had been placed at the disposal of officials.

He said the people had a right to know what state funds were being spent on General Musharraf’s visit and the public meeting.
