KHAIRPUR, Feb 25: The speakers at a seminar have accused the Sindh government of distributing government jobs among the coalition partners instead of making recruitment on merit.

About 50 people, including unemployed youths, read papers at the seminar organised by Berozgar Tehrik at the press club on Sunday. Comrade Jam Saqi presided over the seminar. Hameeda Ghanghro and Dr Haresh were chief guests

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Saqi said that merit was being neglected and jobs were being provided on political basis.

He added that the government, instead of providing jobs to unemployed youths, was rendering thousands of people jobless.

He said that unemployment had reached an alarming stage and added that employment was a basic right of the people.

He added that it was a conspiracy to push them towards disappointment and keep them uneducated.

He said that the government should announce packages for lower class instead of increasing the prices of items of daily consumption.

Ms Ghanghro said that tribal chiefs, landlords and feudal lords were providing protection to criminals and added that they were also involved in kidnapping of innocent people and tribal clashes.

She added that the tribal chiefs and landlords were using youth for their political objectives but were not taking interest in resolving problems of youth.

A number of speakers said that the government waived off loans worth billion of rupees to be paid by tribal chiefs, ministers and landlords.

Criticising Sindh Education Minister Dr Hameeda Khuhro, the speakers said that due to her inefficiency, the candidates who had passed Sindh Public Service Commission examination were not being provided jobs.

A resolution was passed in the seminar, demanding Rs3,000 to Rs5,000 monthly allowance to the unemployed youth.

Asad Shah Abidi, Shahbaz Phulpoto, Anwar Panhwar, Mohammad Ali Shah, Jinsar Ali Soomro, Majeed Dasti, Rao Nawaz Makol, Faheem Bhutto and others also spoke on the occasion.

The seminar was attended by unemployed youth of Khairpur, Sukkur, Ghotki and Dadu.

Youth killed: Armed men, with the intention to kill one Zulfiqar Solangi, opened fire on him while he was sitting at a hotel near Kot Mir Mohammad Pul on Sunday.

The bullet, however, hit Jan Mohammad, 16, son of the hotel owner, who died on the spot.
