HYDERABAD, Feb 24: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that all the political parties functioning in the province are being invited by his government to an all-party conference (APC) on provincial autonomy.

He was talking to journalists at the Petaro Cadet College on Friday where he had come to participate in golden jubilee celebrations of the college as chief guest.

Answering a question, the chief minister said that his government had decided to invite all political parties to the APC in national interest and now it depended upon their leaders either to come up to the expectations of people of Sindh or not.

Earlier, delivering presidential address at second session of a convention organized in connection with the celebrations, Mr Rahim said that his government was giving priority to quality education and had provided maximum financial and administrative support to the college.

He said that during his tenure, record scholarships had been given to the students of the college to encourage and patronize talented students.

Besides, a long-standing dispute over a piece of land between the college administration and local villagers had almost been resolved, he said and added that alternative land would be provided to the displaced occupants of the land.

He asked Jamshoro District Nazim Malik Asad Sikandar, who was present there, to play his role to amicably resolve the dispute. “Institutes are more important than individuals and we have to make sacrifice for common interest,” he said.

Commenting on 50-year academic record of the college, the chief minister said that it had prepared many talented personalities and experts now serving the nation in various fields.

He said that he was proud to be a Petarian and it was because of training and grooming at the college that he was able to run government affairs successfully and face issues without hesitation.

He said that disciplined and good administration was essential for good governance but it could not be achieved without quality education and training.
