RAWALPINDI, Feb 23: City District Nazim Raja Javed Ikhlas Friday said the district government would ensure electrification of all villages by the end of June.

He said this in a meeting with the Chief Executive of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) Brig Shehbaz Azam, who called on him at his office here on Friday.

Brig Shahbaz told the district nazim that Iesco would conduct a survey of the villages in the district lacking electric power. He said the company would complete the survey by March 20 and submit it to the district government for allocation of funds for the project.

The two also discussed modalities for implementing the project. The district nazim said that the town and union councils’ nazims would be involved in the project and asked them to cooperate with the Iesco survey teams for completion of the process as soon as possible.

Mr Azam said that various electrification projects would be completed by March 30 under ‘Khushhal Pakistan Programme’, `Tamir-e Punjab Programme’. He said after completion of survey, the company would take practical steps for supply of electricity to the towns and union councils in the current year.
