LAHORE, Feb 21: Fancied bay filly Richy Dancer powered to victory in the feature event contested over the sprinting distance of 1000metres during the midweek Lahore Gymkhana races in a cloudy afternoon at the Racecourse on Wednesday.

Owned and trained by M. Arshad and rided by Latif, the half-money favourite, Richy Dancer beat bay mare Daisy Against All by a length.

Fruity and Ferrari completed the frame among six runners left after last-minute withdrawal of Intikhab from the race.

The lesser lights among the riders, riding boys Parvaiz Bhatty and Latif won the racing honours by riding home a brace of winners.

Bhatty strode three to one chance Tallal The Great and Re Born in the second and third race while Latif brought in Aaja Bulbul and Richy Dancer in the supporting and main event of the day.

Four favourites obliged the punters in a card of six events. They were: Re Born, Chakori Jaisa, Aaja Bulbul and Richy Dancer.

The half-money favourite, Re Born, who was beaten twice in as many outings previously, turned out to be the best performer of the day. He beat Intikhab-e-Bhakkar by seven lengths in a smart timing of one minute 2 4/5 seconds over the dust track.

Re Born was trained by Iftikhar Ahmed Choudhry.

The Lahore Race Club (LRC) stewards on Wednesday decided to postpone the next Lahore Winter Meeting, scheduled for Sunday, in view of the kite flying festival, Basant. The Meeting will now be held on Monday.
