GILGIT, Feb 21: Heavy rains coupled with snowfall lashed hilly parts of the Northern Areas on Wednesday, brining down temperature below minus Celsius in Upper Hunza, Phander, Nagar, Astore and Baltistan.

Heavy rains and snowfall also affected the flow of traffic in the areas.

However, there was no report of road blockade in any part of the region, but some link roads were hit by small-scale land-sliding.

The PIA could not operate its flight to Gilgit on Wednesday because of bad weather.
