Woman shot dead over karo-kari

NAWABSHAH, Feb 20: A woman, Rani, was shot dead by her husband Hyder Otho on the pretext of karo-kari in Char village near Doulatpur on Tuesday.

Father of deceased woman, Basheer Otho, lodged an FIR with the Doulatpur police who arrested the accused.

Meanwhile, the police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested an accused, Ghafoor Solangi, on the charge of beheading one Nazeer Solangi, 55, and his daughter-in-law Rukhsana, 25, and looting 50 tola gold in Society here on Saturday.

A-section SHO Ghulam Murtaza Rahu told journalists that the arrest was made on a tip off, Ghafoor was a close relative of the deceased and had confessed to the crime.

The police recovered a hammer and a large knife used by butchers, which had been used in the crime, besides the gold, he said, adding that further investigation in the case was going on.
