KHAAR (Bajaur Agency), Feb 19: Doctors, paramedics and health workers observed complete strike and boycotted the polio vaccination campaign to protest against the killing of Agency Surgeon Dr Abdul Ghani Khan in the Bajaur Agency on Monday.

Protesters announced that the strike would continue for two days after which they would work out a future line of action. They wore black arm-bands as a sign of protest.

A member of the Doctors’ Action Committee, Dr Daud Jan, told reporters that health workers would boycott work for two days in protest against the killing of Dr Ghani and other health officials.

He said that health workers in the agency were facing security problems and were being harassed by the elements opposed to the polio vaccination campaign.

He said they would organise a march on Tuesday against the killing and called upon the authorities to arrest culprits and provide security to health workers.

Private clinics and health facilities also remained closed during the day.
