HYDERABAD, Feb 18: Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Vice- Chancellor Dr Abdul Qadeer Rajput has said that libraries are as important for educational institutions as vital organs for the body.

He was speaking at the concluding session of a seven-day workshop on the “Role of Information in Library Service" organised by the library and on-line information department of the university at its Jamshoro campus on Sunday.

Dr Rajput said that the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology had signed agreements with renowned European universities on library service training programmes and added that MUET library was linked with other libraries of the world through on-line service for the benefit of research scholars, teachers and students.

Dr Rajput said that a separate building for the library was in last stage of construction and added that it would be among the most modern libraries of the country.

Dr Mohammad Rafiq Abro, Mumtaz Memon, Bushra Almas, Shahnaz Zuberi and others also spoke on the occasion.

Thirty-five trainees from different universities of the country and other organisations attended the workshop.
