PESHAWAR, Feb 17: A sanitation week will be observed in Mardan district from March 5 to promote hygienic practices.

While presiding over a meeting, NWFP Local Government and Rural Development Secretary Rehmat Ghazi said the tehsil and district governments would organise various activities during the week in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef).

He said the tehsil municipal administrations would launch campaigns to clean the drainage system, ensure availability of dustbins, pick garbage and clean all roads, streets and open areas.

Mr Ghazi said different events would be held in schools, hospitals, government offices and private companies. Lady health visitors would be tasked to convey information about hygiene to people and films would be screened.
