ISLAMABAD, Feb 15: Don’t fall for the stories a certain Major Naveed tells. Report him.

This public warning was issued by the military’s Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate on Thursday.

It said the person has been going around impersonating as Staff Officer to Maj-Gen Shaukat Sultan, the ISPR chief, and telling “false stories” to seek donations.

“Since the name of Maj-Gen Shaukat Sultan is publicly known, this individual has preferred to use it to gain quick monetary benefits,” the ISPR said in a press statement.

“So far he (the impersonator) has called businessmen, politicians and senior retired army officers at Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Hyderabad, Sargodha and other cities.”

His activities had been on the rise, the ISPR said, asking the public to “beware of this” and report any such incident to it on telephone number 051-9271600 during office hours and at 0321- 537094 any time.
