LANDI KOTAL: 21 arrested under FCR

LANDI KOTAL, Feb 14: The political authorities on Wednesday arrested 21 people of the Shalobar tribe under the collective responsibility law of the Frontier Crimes Regulation in Bara, Khyber Agency, officials and residents said.

They said that the administration also sealed three markets and impounded three buses belonging to Shalobar tribesmen in Bara.

Earlier, 64 tribesmen had been arrested under the Section 21 of the FCR, relating to collective and territorial responsibility for a crime in tribal areas.

The operation was launched in the Shalobar areas to pressure the tribe to locate and get freed kidnapped journalist Sohail Qalandar. The journalist was kidnapped along with his friend Niaz Mohammad in Peshawar’s Hayatabad area on Jan 2.
