KHAIRPUR, Feb 13: Ms Farzana Shaikh who was declared ‘kari’ by a jirga on January 2 and reportedly forced to remarry stated before the senior civil judge Sultan Ali Leghari on Tuesday that she was happy with her present husband and would like to lead the rest of her life with him.

Ms Farzana stated that a jirga held in Gul Mohammad Shaikh village on January 2 had declared her kari after Ismail Shaikh blamed her for having illicit relations with Ghulam Shabbir.

She said that after the jirga declared her kari, her husband Mohammad Bux divorced her then and there and her father Shahnawaz later re-married her to Misri Shaikh.

She told the court that she was now happy with her present husband Misri Shaikh and would like to lead the rest of her life with him.

The judge then allowed Ms Farzana to go with her husband Misri Shaikh and directed police to ensure their safety. She was not cross examined by any of the accused persons.
