ISLAMABAD, Feb 10: The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) seized heroin and charas and arrested its carriers in separate smuggling attempts, an ANF spokesman said on Saturday.

He said on a tip-off that a gang would smuggle narcotics from NWFP to Punjab and from Islamabad to abroad, a team was formed which intercepted Shamim Begum, a resident of Nowshera at a picket on GT Road near Iqbal Shaheed toll plaza. During the search, 1.8 kg heroin was recovered from her possession.

In the second operation, a woman passenger identified as Deborah Keer, a Canadian, was intercepted near Rawal lounge at the Islamabad international airport.

During search, 6.2 kg heroin was recovered from her possession. Both the women were arrested by the ANF staff.

The ANF also arrested Ali Badshah, a resident of Khyber Agency, who was scheduled to travel on flight No TG-510 bound for Bangkok-Guangzhou from the Islamabad airport on the charge of carrying 1.4 kg heroin.
