KOHAT, Feb 8: The Lachi Poverty Reduction Project (LPRP) has completed work on 84 small reservoirs for irrigation and drinking purposes overcoming the scarcity of water in the area.

Talking to visiting journalists of Chitral here on Wednesday, LPRP programme manager Khan Mohammad said that the project was exexuted by the Sarhad Rural Support Programme and funded by the UNDP.

He said: “Under the programme 5.6 million dollars will be spent in nine years bringing about revolutionary changes in the lives of farmers as the per-acre yield has multiplied maniflod with the provision of irrigation water."

The area people solely depend on farming and the LPRP has caused socio-economic uplift in the area, he added.
