Wasim to compete in Toon Cricket

Published February 8, 2007

KARACHI, Feb 7: Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram will be seen in action once again when he battles with toons for the inaugural Toon Cricket trophy next month.

Popular cartoon channel, Cartoon Network, is all set to raise the heat on the fun-barometer this March with the first ever Toon Cricket event, a unique combination of cartoons and cricket, in Pakistan. Cricket is the national passion for kids and adults alike in this country and when combined with favourite cartoons, the end product is a fun-filled, action-packed sporting extravaganza called Toon Cricket.

A salient feature of the event will be a match between Wasim's Wascals which will be led by the famous all-rounder, and an opposing outfit that will be led by the lucky winner of the Toon Cricket contest.

Making its debut in Pakistan, Toon Cricket will see the best spinners, batsmen and fielders from the world of toons, kids and international cricket on the field including The Powerpuff Girls, Scooby-Doo, Johnny Bravo, Tom & Jerry, Fred Flintstone and more. —Agencies
