Philanthropists urged to help needy

PESHAWAR, Feb 7: Mardan District Nazim Himayatullah Mayar has said that the district government is trying to help the needy and poor and accommodate them properly.

Presiding over a monthly meeting of the District Philanthropists Forum in Mardan, Mr Mayar, who is also chairman of the forum, appealed to philanthropists to come forward and help the needy and deserving people.

“We must work together to eradicate poverty from the district,” he said, adding that health and education were the most neglected sectors and there was a great scope to work for the betterment of poor.

He said medical camps were being set up in villages for treatment and supply of free medicines to the children and needy people. He said awareness campaigns were also being launched throughout Mardan district.

Later, the district nazim inaugurated a canopy for information disk for the patients, where two male and a female volunteers would provide basic information to the patients round-the-clock.—PPI
