HYDERABAD, Feb 7: District Naib Nazim Zafar Rajput has urged the consultants and contractors to accelerate the pace of Rani Bagh development work and complete the project by the end of current calendar year.

Mr Rajput who is also chairman of the advisory committee for the Rani Bagh development project said while presiding over a committee meeting at his office on Wednesday that the officers concerned should issue work orders for the remaining development works within shortest possible time.

He said that the purpose of forming the committee was to develop Rani Bagh with the consultation of all stakeholders and public representatives in accordance with the aspiration of people.

The estimated cost of the project in the initial PC-I was Rs40 million but it had to be enhanced to Rs60 million after the committee identified some additional works including sub-surface, surface and storm-water drainage schemes, he said.

The district government put aside Rs12 million for the purchase of animals and was inviting quotations from various organisations for the procurement of animals, he said.

He informed the meeting that the project included two main entrance gates, one on the Thandi Sarak and the other facing Qasimabad with separate parking lots.

Mr Rajput endorsed the proposals put forward by adviser to chief minister Ms Nuzhat Pathan who also attended the meeting and directed the consultant to construct gates in such a way that they reflected a cultural look and develop lawns on sloped with sprinkle irrigation system.

He said that a piece of land had been earmarked for the construction of TMA secretariat. In addition to development and beautification work of Rani Bagh, installation of thrilling rides, food stalls, railway track, a beautiful lake and paths had also been designed, he said.

Ms Pathan said that offices of taluka administration and TMA secretariat should be constructed side by side at the proposed site to ensure one window service to people.
