Drivers thank their lucky stars

SYDNEY, Feb 20: Drivers who won’t admit to error can now blame traffic accidents on the lottery of their birth date.

An Australian insurance company has found that people born under the star sign Gemini are the most likely to crash their cars.

Suncorp Metway statistics show that over the past three years 14,500 drivers born between May 21 and June 21 had made claims after crashing their cars.

In the accident stakes the Gemini contingent was closely followed by Taureans (April 20 - May 20) and Pisceans (February 19 - March 20).

Capricornians the least likely to have a pileup, Suncorp Metway found.

But astrology won’t be playing a part in pricing motor vehicle insurance policies.

Suncorp Metway’s Warren Duke said the study was light-hearted and it was nothing more than interesting that Geminis, typically described at restless, easily bored and frustrated by things moving slowly, had more car accidents than any other sign.

Taureans, signified by the bull, were often described as obstinate and inflexible, while Pisceans could be risk takers and daredevils.

Capricornians, who had the fewest accidents, are typically described as patient and careful.—dpa
