Kyaw, Phuong crowned ITF champions

ISLAMABAD, Feb 5: Naing Aung Kyaw of Myanmar clinched the boys’ singles title as he defeated Malaysia’s Khan Mohamed 6-3, 6-3 in final of the second leg of the ITF 14 and Under Asian Tennis Championships at the Islamabad Club clay courts here on Monday.

Meanwhile, Vietnam’s Phuong Huynh won the girls’ singles title by trouncing Boey A Chai of Malaysia 6-2, 6-3.

Pakistan’s Ashiq Heera prevailed over Oran Sambath 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 to take the fifth position in the boys’ singles playoff.

In the meantime, Heera paired with Malaysia’s Merzuki M Asri, defeated the Malaysian duo of Deen Heshaam Ariez and Khan Mohamed 6-1, 6-4 in the boys’ doubles final.
