MITHI, Feb 5: A large number of people having their accounts in the National Bank of Pakistan, the only bank operating in Mithi, have demanded opening of more bank branches with online facility.

The demand was made through a communication despatched to the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan as well as to the presidents of a number of other scheduled banks.

The communiqué was signed by over 19 officials of different departments which included, in-charge sub-office of Hesco, office superintendent of taluka municipal administration and others.

It maintains that though Mithi town has a population of over 50,000 but it has a single branch of NBP. One has to stand and wait for hours in queues even for payment of utility bills and encashment of cheques for hours.
