Mansoor Amjad joins Leicestershire

Published February 2, 2007

LONDON, Feb 1: Pakistan’s 19-year-old leg-spinner Mansoor Amjad has been signed for the second consecutive season by English County Leicestershire as their overseas player.

Mansoor had a brief stint at the county last year but a finger injury forced him to return home early. He has now fully recovered and is set to fill one of two overseas players’ slots at Leicestershire for 2007.

Coach Tim Boon said the county was delighted to have secured Mansoor's services. “I feel we have unearthed a gem in Mansoor,” he said. “I am confident he will learn quickly in our environment and mature into an international cricketer.”—Agencies
