Gasquet to lead French challenge

Published February 1, 2007

PARIS, Jan 31: Former junior world No 1 Richard Gasquet will spearhead France's Davis Cup challenge in the first round against Romania next month. Gasquet joined Sebastien Grosjean, Arnaud Clement and Michael Llodra in the team named by captain Guy Forget on Tuesday.

One notable omission, however, was that of Gael Monfils, the exciting but inconsistent 20-year-old.

“I think that these are the guys who have the best chance of winning points against Romania,” said Forget.
