Mian Azhar to consult friends

Published January 30, 2007

LAHORE, Jan 29: Mian Azhar, though inactive, was still with the ruling PML as he had never quit the party at any stage, sources close to the former head of the party said on Monday.

However, they said, since the PPP had also offered him to join them and contest the next election from its platform, he was holding consultations with his friends and supporters about his future course of action.

A PML delegation, led by provincial secretary-general Chaudhry Zaheeruddin, called on Mian Azhar here on Sunday, urging him to play an active role in the party.

Mian Azhar told them that he had not been contacted by anyone in the party for the past several years.

Sources said on Monday that Mian Azhar had no ambition for any office as he had already been the head of the party. —Staff Reporter
