HYDERABAD, Jan 29: The management of a charitable hospital in Qasimabad on Monday threatened to initiate legal proceedings against the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) for disconnecting power supply even though the hospital had cleared all the bills.
The hospital’s chairman Iftikhar Goraho and administrator Pervez Ali complained at a news conference at the press club that the company cut power supply on January 27 well before the last date for payment of bill, which was mentioned on the bill as February 7.
They said that when the power was disconnected two newly-born babies were in incubators and the hospital had to rush them to other hospitals. Nevertheless one of the babies Tahreen, daughter of Ibrahim Shoro of Sheedi Goth, later died, they said.
The hospital had also to shift all the other patients who had been operated upon, they said and added that the disconnection was made in such a haphazard manner that it sent the wiring up in flames and damaged the electronic equipment.
They warned that the company would have to pay for everything and threatened to initiate legal proceedings for disconnecting power supply illegally.
EMERGENCY: DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed has declared emergency in government and (major) private hospitals in the city to meet any eventuality on the Aashura Day.
Presiding over an emergency meeting at his office on Sunday night, he directed that life saving drugs, blood and equipment be kept ready at the hospitals.The EDO (health), medical superintendents of Civil, Bhitai, Paretabad, Qasimabad and Hilal-i-Ahmer hospitals and a representative of the CMH attended the meeting.
The EDO (health) told the meeting that seven ambulances would be available on the processions’ routes and seven others kept ready at the Police Lines hospital.
Meanwhile, District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has taken notice of cooking of Nazr-o-Niaz on the roads and appealed to the people not to use roads for cooking purposes during Muharram.
In a statement, he said that huge amount had been spent on the construction of roads and urged the people to use katcha places for the cooking of Nazr-o-Niaz.
