KARACHI, Jan 27: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal has claimed that General Musharraf’s visit to certain Arab countries is related to the implementation of US agenda in the Middle East region.

In a joint statement issued here by MMA MNAs Mohammad Hussain Mehanti and Laeeq Khan said that General Musharraf intended to convince leaders of Arab states to recognise Israel and stop raising their voice for the legitimate rights of oppressed Palestinians, who were struggling for an independent state of their own.

They claimed that the rulers in Islamabad had never taken the parliament into confidence with regard to the country’s foreign policy. They expressed the view that General Musharraf's foreign policy was not in the interest of Pakistan.

They deplored that General Musharraf and his fellows were acting like US envoys and were making efforts to persuade the Arab world to recognise Israel.

“Instead of struggling to resolve the Middle East crisis, they should make efforts to get the Kashmir issue resolved,” they remarked.

The legislators reminded them that those who tried to act as a US mouthpiece had always faced the wrath of masses not only in their own country but also around the world.—PPI
