LAHORE, Jan 26: Opener Khalid Latif hit a fine century to help Karachi Harbour set Lahore Shalimar a challenging target of 383 in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League fixture at the Gaddafi Stadium on Friday.

Khalid stroked 103 with the aid of 13 boundaries and added 124 for the fifth-wicket with skipper Naumanullah (64, seven fours) after Karachi Harbour found themselves in trouble at 54 for four in the second innings.

The visitors, already holding a lead of 140 on the first innings, declared their second innings at 242 for six. Ex-international Junaid Zia claimed four wickets.

Lahore Shalimar, however, were looking in a mood to chase the target as they finished the day at 44 without loss. Big-hitting Humayun Farhat, prompted in the order, blasted four fours in making 23. First-class debutant Ahmed Shahzad was not out on 19 with three strokes to fence.

The hosts need another 339 runs for their first victory this season.
