Grandson of Pagara among 18 held

KARACHI, Jan 25: A grandson of Pir Pagara, chief of the Pakistan Muslim League-F, and 17 other people were arrested by the Malir Cantonment police early Thursday morning on charges of attempted murder and land grabbing.

Police said Syed Umer Mustafa, son of Pir Sibghatullah Shah Rashidi, Mohammad Hashim Ali, son of former provincial minister Hasan Ali, and 16 others were arrested from a 12-acre plot they had allegedly occupied in Zakir Goth near the Baqai Hospital on the Super Highway.

They were accused of entering the property owned by businessman Aslam Siddiqui late Wednesday night, forcing watchman Malik Mohammad and his family to leave the place and occupying the land.

The watchman reported the matter to police. Police also impounded four vehicles belonging to the accused who were booked under sections 147, 148, 149, 324, 395, 448, 455 and 337-A of the Pakistan Penal Code.
