SARGODHA, Feb 19: The Sahiwal tehsil Naib Nazim and councillor allegedly involved in a gang rape obtained interim bail from the sessions court, claiming they were falsely implicated at the behest of district Naib Nazim.
Reports reaching here revealed the girl lodged a report with the urban area police, claiming she was kidnapped from the Civil Hospital and raped by Sahiwal tehsil Naib Nazim Haji Allahdad Hargan, councillor Abdul Ghaffar, Public Health Engineering SDOs Muhammad Ayub, Ahmad Khan and shopkeeper Kamran. She said she was injured by one of the culprits.
On the complaint of the Iqbal Colony residents, the police arrested all the culprits and allegedly set four of them free after some bargain. Those freed included the Naib Nazim and Ayub.
A case was registered against the culprits under the hudood ordinance on the complaint of the victim.
The police sources said the accused fled before they reached the spot, claiming they tried to arrest the culprits but they obtained interim pre-arrest bail from the sessions court till March 4.
Meanwhile, Haji Hargan in his bail petition alleged the district Nazim and Naib Nazim had got the case registered over rivalry.
A spokesman of the district Nazim refuted the allegations, claiming the Nazim or Naib Nazim had no grudge against any Nazim and equally distributed funds amongst all the tehsils.
The allegation was levelled with a view to saving the skin, he claimed.
Accused Kamran and Ahmad Khan had been arrested, it was learnt.
PROTESTED: Over a dozen students on Tuesday protested against a local information technology market for issuing BCS degrees without any affiliation.
The agitation reportedly started after the statement of Punjab University Registrar Col Masoodul Haq (retired) that no IT college set up recently was affiliated with the university and its degree had no value.
The students alleged the college administration plundered huge amounts on the pretext of affiliation with the PU.
When contacted, the Punjab College provided no information regarding affiliation and NoC of the Punjab government.
