QUETTA, Jan 23: The Balochistan government has allotted land for the construction of warehouses in Gwadar and directed the authorities concerned to complete construction work along with all required facilities before making the Gwadar port operational.

It was informed at a meeting held in Gwadar on Tuesday which was presided over by Chief Minister Jam Yousuf to review the on-going development projects in Gwadar. Chief Secretary K. B Rind and other officials also attended the meeting.

The meeting was informed that plots were allotted in the Gwadar Industrial Zone for construction of warehouses to facilitate importers and exporters.

The Director-General of the Gwadar Development Authority, Ahmed Bakhsh Lahri, informed the meeting that the federal government has provided Rs2.217 billion during last three years for the development of Gwadar.

He said that work on 14kg meter each roads of the Jinnah Avenue, the Marine Drive has been completed while work on Broadway was in progress and construction of the east and the west bay express ways has already been launched.

He informed the meeting that some changes were made in the

Gwadar Master Plan in the view of public interest and the GDA would get approval of these changes soon from the Board of Governors.

The meeting was told that concerned departments have accelerated pace of work on projects approved by the federal and provincial governments for the new port city of Gwadar.
