ISLAMABAD, Jan 22: All-Parties Hurriat Conference (APHC) chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq has said that the alliance has no hidden agenda on Kashmir and will formulate proposals in light of discussions with leaders of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.

Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, he dispelled as impression that he was in Pakistan with a secret formula to tackle Kashmir problem.

He said the APHC had often been accused of following whatever was said by President Gen Pervez Musharraf, but the truth was that they supported whatever they felt was practicable and positive as the intention was to break the status quo.

He said Pakistan had been playing a positive role and its policies had raised hopes among Kashmiris. It was for the first time that Kashmiris were at a centre stage, he added. He said two working groups on Kashmir would meet after every two months.

He announced to hold a conference in Muzaffarabad as part of the efforts to promote intra-Kashmir dialogue, enabling Kashmiris of both the sides to formulate a joint strategy.

The APHC leader said the leadership from both parts of the divided Kashmir had agreed on setting up working groups to enhance mutual interaction as part of intra-Kashmir dialogue aimed at contributing towards resolution of the issue.

He urged Pakistan and India to support the intra-Kashmir dialogue as it could bring divided Kashmiri families closer to each other. He suggested that people living on both sides of the Line of Control should be allowed to use private cars for visits across the LoC.
