LAHORE, Jan 21: Two goals in last minutes by Hissam Ali Hyder helped Askari Bank defeat Dubai Islamic Bank 7-6 in the final of the BoP Polo Cup on Sunday.

Islamic Bank took a flying start and took 3-0 lead in first chukker. Argentinian Ganzalo Boudia struck back-to-back field goals after Briton James Harper drew the first blood converting a 60-yard penalty.

In second chukker, Harper and Boudia added one goal each for Islamic Bank.

Hissam, who scored four goals in the match for Askari Bank, earned his first on a field attempt. Shah Qubilai Alam converted a 30-yard penalty while Saqib Khan Khakwani netted a field goal to reduce the margin to 5-3.

In third chukker, Saqib scored a field goal off a fine pass from Hissam and then Hissam pumped in his second goal, capitalising a 40-yard penalty hit to take the score to 5-5.

The fight for ascendancy continued in fourth chukker. Harper again took Islamic Bank ahead (6-5) by scoring his third goal through a 40-yard penalty hit, before Hissam banged home back-to-back to seal fate of the match.

Earlier, five-goal Gerardo Mazzini helped Lindt Chocolate earn third place by defeating Security2000 8 - 3½.

Hamid Ali Manan, Jamal Iftikhar and Naveed M. Sheikh added one goal each for the winners.

Tauheed scored the solitary goal for Security2000 which were playing with handicap of 3½.
