PESHAWAR: Carpet dealers seek relief

PESHAWAR, Jan 21: District Nazim Haji Ghulam Ali on Sunday visited the burnt carpet market in the Karkhano Bazaar and met the traders who lost millions of rupees due to the fire which broke out after a short circuit.

He was accompanied by nazims of several union councils, councillors of the area and officials of the district government. The nazim inspected various sections of the market, comprising hundred of shops which were gutted.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ali promised that he would take the affected businessmen’s case to the provincial government and press for payment of compensation to them.

He also requested the federal government to extend help to the affected people who lost all their merchandise in the tragic incident. —APP
