DADU, Jan 15: The three-day celebrations to mark the 103rd birthday anniversary of the founder of Jeay Sindh Tehrik late G. M. Syed commenced at Sann on Monday.

The ceremony was being organised by G. M. Syed Foundation and late Syed’s family.

Late G. M. Syed’s son Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah who is also president and founder of Sindh United Party, and Jeay Sindh Mahaz (Z) Chairman Syed Zain Shah laid floral wreath on G. M. Syed’s grave and offered fateha.

A literary conference was also held on the first day, which was attended by Ibrahim Joyo, Dr G. A. Allana and Taj Joyo. It would be followed by Sufiana Mehfil, Malakhro and stage dramas on Tuesday and main gathering at Syed Bungalow on Wednesday.

The Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz will celebrate Syed's anniversary on January 17 in a function be held near Syed’s shrine. Party chairman Basheer Khan Qureshi and other leaders would address the function.

A group of 150 participants of a freedom march led by Serai Qurban Khuhawar of JSQM arrived in Sann. The march had started from Larkana a couple of days ago on foot and reached its destination on Monday.

Hunger strike: Activists of District Social Welfare Action Committee Youth observed a token hunger strike outside the press club on Monday in protest against district treasury officials for demanding commission on the pension of retired employees and on the bills of medical and GP funds.
