Bandits loot anti-polio team members

SHIKARPUR, Jan 13: Members of a mobile team of anti-polio drive were deprived of cash and other valuables by armed men when they were returning after performing their duty on Saturday evening.

Eight paramedical staffers, including area in-charge Abdul Razzaq, Mohammad Nawaz, Nazeer Ahmed, Noor Mohammad, Mir Khan, Javed Bhutto, Gul Bahar and Aijaz Ali of the Garhi Yasin rural health centre, were deputed in the mobile team of anti-polio drive in the Golo Daro area.

Five armed bandits intercepted the ambulance on a road about one kilometre away from the Golo Daro police station and beat up the team members.

They robbed cash, five mobile sets and seven wristwatches.

The culprits escaped from the place.

Injured ambulance driver Gul Bahar, Mir Khan and Noor Mohammad were taken to the Garhi Yasin hospital.

No FIR has been lodged till the filing of the report.
