Young Civil Quarters in semi-finals

PESHAWAR, Jan 11: In a thrilling encounter Young Civil Quarters defeated Cantt Club 2-1 to move into the semi-finals of the PHF NWFP Inter-Club Hockey Championship here at the Lala Ayub Stadium on Thursday.

Led by national team player Yasir Islam, Young Civil Quarters faced tough resistance from strong Cantt Club.

Young Civil Quarters conceded an early goal when Cantt Club’s Shehzab scored a beautiful goal.

In the 30th minute Cantt Club were awarded a penalty stroke but Munir’s try was intercepted by Young Civil Quarters goal-keeper Zeeshan. For Young Civil Quarters Zahid, Arif made two combined moves but Noman missed the target.

In the second half Young Civil Quarters forwards launched some strong attacks and as a result Yasir Islam slammed in a beautiful goal from the top of the D.

In the 55th minute Quarter’s Kashif Islam scored the second and final goal of the match on a field attempt. —APP
