46 ambassadors to visit Gwadar today

ISLAMABAD, Jan 10: The government has arranged a day-long visit of 46 ambassadors and high commissioners based in Islamabad to Gwadar and Pasni on Thursday to show them ongoing development activities in coastal areas of the troubled Balochistan province.

This is for the first time that the foreign ambassadors and high commissioners of major countries in such a large number will be visiting Gwadar to see future prospects of foreign investment in the area.

An official of the Ministry of Communications told Dawn that the ambassadors and high commissioners of the UK, Germany, France, India, China, Bangladesh, the UAE, Japan, Sri Lanka, the European Union and other Arab countries would be taken to Gwadar where they would be given a briefing by Federal Minister for Communications Shamim Siddiqui on the ongoing development projects and future opportunities for the foreign investors.

The official said foreign envoys would visit the Gwadar Port, Coastal Highway and sites of some other undergoing development projects during their visit under tight security arrangements.

The foreign dignitaries will be flowing to Gwadar in a special C-130 aircraft with a group of media persons early Thursday morning and they will be back in the capital in the evening.
