PESHAWAR, Jan 10: The Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) organised a camp in front of the Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday to protest against increasing prices of edible items, petroleum products, gas and electricity, and deteriorating law and order situation in the country.

Dozens of party workers led by provincial PML-N chief Pir Sabir Shah and general secretary Anwar Kamal Marwat attended the camp with placards and banners inscribed with slogans against President Pervez Musharraf.

Talking to newsmen, Sabir Shah said President Musharraf had set aside the national priorities and interest while following a pro-US agenda, which had brought the country to a critical juncture.

He termed the government’s plan to mine the Afghan border a conspiracy against the tribal people living on both sides.

In reply to a question, he said impartial and transparent election was not possible in the presence of President Musharraf. He alleged that the polls in 2002 had been rigged by the intelligence agencies in favour of the ‘military-backed Muslim League’.
