ISLAMABAD, Jan 9: Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and her husband Senator Asif Ali Zardari have condoled the death of renowned journalist and intellectual Anwar Pirzado.

Ms Bhutto in a condolence message to his son Zarrar Pirzado wrote, “Senator Asif Ali Zardari and I are deeply grieved to hear about the demise of your father Anwar Pirzado. The loss of a parent is a great tragedy. Our sympathies are with you at this difficult time. Anwar Pirzado was a journalist, writer and a poet of repute whose poetry and writings earned him applause. His unfailing commitment to democratic ideals, demonstrated during the 1983 MRD movement earned him the gratitude of all democracy loving people in the country. His death is a great loss to Sindhi literature and journalism and the vacuum created by his death will take a long time to fill.”
