LAHORE, Jan 8: An important meeting of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal supreme council scheduled for Thursday has been postponed. No new date has been given for the meeting. According to Liaquat Baloch, various MMA leaders’ visit to Saudi Arabia, including that of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, was behind the postponement of the meeting. “The Maulana will be arriving on Wednesday and a new date for the meeting will be announced with his consultation,” Mr Baloch said.

He denied any other interpretation of the delay, saying that it was strictly because of the disturbed flight schedule.

“There is no difference of opinion within the alliance on the need to mobilise people against the government.”
