KARACHI, Jan 7: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said that the ‘single agency operation’ should be the essence of Karachi Master Plan, which should provide for all civic facilities of international standards within the municipal boundaries of the city government.

Presiding over a meeting at the Governor’s House here on Saturday, he stressed the need for synchronising the basic concept of the municipal services and economic affairs in accordance with the public opinion. For this purpose, a joint survey would have to be conducted, he added.

He called for closer coordination between the city government and cantonment boards to ensure the single agency operation vis-a-vis the services in transport, health, education, water supply, sewerage disposal, solid waste management, environment, legal framework and economic matters.

“Guidance should be sought from the fiscal management and GIS system to superimpose the master plan,” he said.

The governor said that all heads of cantonment boards should form a strategy for provision of municipal services in coordination with the CDGK.

Those who were present at the meeting included City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal, DCO Fazalur Rehman, KWSB MD Brig Iftikhar Haider, Chief Controller KBCA Mumtaz-ur-Rehman, EDO Municipal Services Masood Alam, EDO Master Plan Iftikhar Qaimkhani and Project Coordinator, Mega City Project, Roshan Ali Shaikh.
